2007 Birds of Buffalo
Whilst camping at Mount Buffalo in Easter 2007, for the first time ever I was able to get a reasonably good collection of bird photographs. This was because a) we were up there for nine days, which meant lots of photo opportunities, b) I had a new 70-300mm lens, which made getting close much easier, and c) some birds (especially the kookaburra) seemed especially keen to be photographed.
I'll put the species names onto these photos as soon as I find my book of Australian Birds.

There are some places in Australia where it's no great challenge to photograph a rosella. People feed them at places like Tidal River and the Dandenongs, so the greatest challengs is to stop them landing on your head or hands and to persuade them to land somewhere within photo range.
At Mount Buffalo the rosellas are less domesticated, so photographing them was trickier. However, this one eventually consented to look over his shoulder so I could get his face into the photo.
