For a while we wondered whether these birds were geese or swans. Our nifty Fuglakort (birdwatcher's map) suggests that there are no white geese - so this must be an Álft, otherwise known as a Cygnus Cygnus, or Whooper Swan.
This little church is in Saurbær near Rauđasandur (red sands) in the West Fjords. To me this feels like something out of American Gothic.
