2010 Montague Island
Eight kilometres off the coast of Narooma, New South Wales lies Montague Island. This gallery has some photographs that I took during a half day cruise to the island on 23rd December 2010. Narooma Charters has the exclusive contract to sail to Montague, and tours are accompanied by a NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service guide.

The lighthouse was constructed in 1880 from granite found on the island. You can still see partially broken boulders nearby. Each of the stones you can see in the lighthouse photo weighs about a tonne. The granite was also used for columns in the Sydney GPO, although I find it a little bit difficult to see from photos of the GPO exactly which bits come from Montague. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Post_Office_(Sydney)
