As night fell, the lights came on. Channel 9's commentary team kept the crowds awake by manufacturing cheering competitions: Who could cheer louder, the crowd on the Yarra, or the crowd in the MCG?
We also did a couple of practice runs counting down the Commonwealth Games cities in order from Hamilton (1930) to Melbourne (2006).
